Elusive, yet enticing…acrylic drums exist as a relic of “cool” from a time when music was raw and adventurous, and drumming was as distinctive as it was driven. Rivaled only by their surreal appearance, the sound and presence of acrylic drums was undeniable. Sadly, the acrylic sets of old suffered from the same deficiencies as other drums of the period – inadequate hardware, inconsistent construction, and exorbitant pricing. In short: Drums that were made pre-Tama.

Fast-forward decades. Tama has taken advantage of time and technology to bring you back to the sharp, full-bodied sound of classic acrylic shell drums—minus any of the drawbacks. Bolstered by a full complement of Silverstar features that include low-mass single lugs, stabilizing claw hooks, and the sustain-enhancing Star-Mount System—the Mirage rig is so impressive, yet so practically priced, you may find yourself questioning your own senses.

• Seamless Acrylic Shells: Drum shell acrylic material can vary almost as widely as wood. After many months of research, Tama deemed one particular acrylic formulation as musically superior. A seamless build process was then developed that showcases this lively, dynamic, shell material.

Precautions:Use only a very soft damp cloth when cleaning acrylic surfaces. Never use chemical cleaners containing spirit solvent, such as alcohol, acetone, gasoline, benzene. These can cause surface cracks.Avoid direct sunlight and places with high heat and humidity. The drum shells can deform and degrade.
